Activision Blizzard

I have waited to make a statement on this, but I feel a statement must be made. I cut my MMO teeth on World of Warcraft, back at the beginning of the Burning Crusade expansion. When my husband and I decided to get married, we also had a (now cringy, I admit) World of Warcraft in-game wedding with our guild (it was in Nagrand, on a floating waterfall island. It was beautiful). I've been an avid player of Diablo II and III, and played Overwatch competitively. In summary, Blizzard has had a huge impact on my life. I even owned stock. In light of the racism, sexism, and general sliminess that has surfaced regarding Blizzard, I have chosen to completely divorce myself from the company. On top of that, I have something to say in response to the things that have come to light: Blizzard, on behalf of all of us Southern Fried Geek Girls, I am incredibly disappointed in you. The toxic atmosphere you have chosen to foster within your company is disgusting. The complete lack of value for your women and minority employees is infuriating. It is hard enough to carve a space out for woman gamers and geeks in the geek community at times without entire companies actively working against us.

To me, being a geek is a celebration of passions and interests, and the geek community is a place to come together with other awesome people who also share that passion. Being a geek is all about enthusiastic celebration of interests. Racism, sexism, misogyny, and discrimination in general have no place in the geek community.

How do y'all feel about the issues with Blizzard's workplace coming to light? We'd love to hear from y'all about how this is affecting the community.
